Internet resources are provided
equally to all persons with a valid library card from the Bell Co. Public
Library System. However, all users will
be required to sign an Internet User Agreement Form, and library customers
under the age of 18 will need to have a parent or legal guardian sign the
agreement. Use of the Internet is a privilege, not a right, and inappropriate
use will result in cancellation of this privilege. Examples of inappropriate use include, but are not limited to,
the following:
-
Violation of computer system integrity
-
Unauthorized tempering with computer
hardware or software
-
Violation of another user’s privacy
-
Transmission of threatening, obscene,
or harassing materials
-
Sending or receiving e-mail via
the library’s computer (other than via a Web-based
e-mail provider
-
Using software programs which fall
outside the provisions of this policy*
-
Employing the network for commercial
purposes
*Users may not bring their own
software for use on these computers.
However, some course-specific programs will sometimes be required by
instructors. In those cases, educational/
instructional software may be used. We
cannot guarantee that your software will be compatible with our hardware,
however. Computer games and other
entertainment software are not permitted.
The library system does not
censor your access to materials or protect you from information you might find
offensive. There is sexually explicit
material and other information resources which you may personally find
controversial or inappropriate. Parents
are expected to monitor and supervise their children’s use of the
Internet. The library will not be held
responsible for its content. The
Internet is a global entity with a highly diverse user population and library
patrons use it at their own risk.
However, displaying sexually explicit material in public constitutes
sexual harassment, and violators will lose privileges to access the Internet
and may be subject to prosecution.
Internet Access Policy:

-
While there is no time limit on your use of the

will need to ask a librarian if you need to save files (or word processor
documents.) Bring your own disk, formatted
for an IBM compatible computer, if you wish to save files. (We do not guarantee that material
downloaded is virus-free.) If you do not have a disk, you may purchase one from
us.
